Students project - food - the fuel for us
This topic is the curriculum at the school. The social personal health education programmer is an ideal tool within schools to promote awareness of healthy food concepts and of loving a healthy lifestyle. Students will use the Internet to learn of, and research, information on health and nutrition. Students will study the six essential nutrients. Students will research print material and Internet sites to obtain accurate information about six nutrition, and deficiency diseases that occur due to lack of nutrients over a long period. Students will create a presentation describing different types of Nutrition’s need for our body. Students will create a Food Pyramid and food poster on computer and chart. The teacher will assess students on their completion of each of the activities, and opportunities for feedback and suggestions from peers will be available to the groups. One hands-on activity is included—making of chart of Nutrients.
Keeping our body healthy by eating proper Diet To do work, we require energy. We get energy from food. The food needed by our body for healthy growth is called Nutrients. Eating a variety of foods help your body to be fit and healthy. Different vitamins are A,B,C,D,E and K. In order to keep our bone strong, you need to eat calcium, vitamin D, K . Milk, Curd, Ice cream is rich in calcium. Eating food and Vegetables everyday good for your health. Avoid frying food. Eat more white meat and fish rather than red meat. Eat as much fresh food as possible. Boiling washes out more vitamins than steaming food. Do not overcook food. It is good to eat vegetables raw or boiled. Try to replace sugary snacks with fruits or raw vegetables. Cut down on tea, coffee and sweet drinks and replace with herb teas and fruit juices. Strategies for learners: 1. Students will acquire the ability to do scientific inquiry employ equipment, tools, a variety of techniques and information sources to gather, analyze, and interpret data. 2. Students will know and understand the concepts of various nutrients. 3. Students will understand and draw the Food nutrients chart and pyramid. 4. Students will speak and write clearly, effectively, and correctly -- construct clear, concise, complete, and mechanically and grammatically correct sentences and paragraphs. 5. Students will use state-of-the-art computer and other technology to gather, use and synthesize information, and to create and communicate knowledge -- find and apply information from a variety of sources -- acquire and use a common language for technology, technical writing, and research skills -- use available technology to locate, organize, and present information -- and produce a variety of forms of writing using technology. Student Objectives/Learning Outcomes:
1. Students will brainstorm as a group to determine what types of nutrients need our body. Instruction will be given on the appropriate reference books to be used for various types of searches. 2. Students will read, take notes, and rewrite the information into their own words creating short paragraphs about the topic. 3. Students will connect to the Internet and successfully navigate and search selected Web sites to obtain accurate and reliable information about the topic. 4. Students will cite information and give credit for pictures and diagrams from various types of media according to their subjects. 5. Each large group will compose and send an e-mail message with an appropriate question to an “expert” identified on either of relative subjects Web sites. Multimedia Presentation:

Approximate Time Needed: The activities in this unit are designed to work also as stand-alone activities. Implementation of the entire unit is estimated to take 2 weeks (06class periods—40 minutes each). Individual activities are estimated as follows: · Research and Internet activity: 3-4 class periods. · PowerPoint activity: 3-4 class periods. · Projector activity: 3-5 class periods Prerequisite Skills: It is not necessary that students have a lot of experience with computers to implement the activities in this unit, however, some familiarity with a word processing program would be useful. The time estimates given assume the students have had previous instruction on how to navigate the Internet using a Web browser (Internet Explorer). They have also received instruction on ways to determine the accuracy and reliability of information found on the Internet. The PowerPoint and Web page development activities can be introductory activities. If the students have written their text ahead of time and have identified some graphics prior to beginning the activity, they should be able to complete the activity in the estimated time. Our Plan: - · Our school Administration uses this multimedia presentation in the seminar, or school assembly to create awareness among the participants about the various diseases that affect the human the lack of vitamins and minerals. · Students of the school go around the school vicinity areas as well as in the town taking banners to create awareness among the people about the importance of human health. · The school Administration organized a science exhibition on the topic of awareness about the various diseases that affect the Human beings. All the students of different school bring chat, nonworking and working models. · The school Administration organized Edu. Tour and visit to various hospitals to consult Doctor for more information about human body. · And other activities. For e.g. 1. To organized quiz and debate competition on school level. 2. To organized open discussion. 3. Each small group of students will be evaluated on whether they can follow instructions provided to build a various models and make posters, of Human Diet nutrient chart. 4.
